These terms apply when you join The Analog Circle membership through theanalogcircle.com or a checkout we link to, such as Stripe.

Membership is by invitation, after we've got to know you a little. When you're ready, tick the box and press “Start my membership”. Ticking it means you accept these terms and have read your right of withdrawal. Once your payment goes through, your membership begins and these terms form our agreement for the time described in § 5.

The Analog Circle is a curated community for expats who want close, lasting friendships. Your membership includes:

• A place in an Inner Circle of about eight members, chosen with care
• Inner Circle dinners in members' homes, about 8 times a year
• Community experiences with members from other circles
• The private members app
• 1:1 adventures and member-led activities, as they come up

We match you to a circle and help coordinate the schedule for the year.

What we promise is the setup: the right people, regular time together, and a structure that helps real friendships grow.

Membership is for people who live in the city their circle meets in, can come to gatherings in person, and are happy to host their circle about once a year (§ 8a).

There are two ways to pay for the same membership:

• Yearly: one payment for 12 months, made when you join.
• Monthly: a payment every month, for a minimum of 6 months. We take the first payment when you join, then on the same day each month, or on the last day of a shorter month.

Your price. Before you pay, we show you the price of the plan you choose, what you pay today and the total for your commitment, in euros. Your price is the one shown when you join. We confirm it in your welcome email, and your Membership page always shows your next payment.

Your price is locked. It stays the same for as long as your membership continues without a break. If we change our prices for new members, yours stays as it is. We can only change your price with your express agreement (§ 11).

You pay by card, through Stripe.

If a payment fails. Cards expire, it happens. We'll try again and let you know. If it's still unpaid after a deadline we give you in writing, we may end your membership.

Ways out, first. You have 14 days to change your mind for any reason (§ 9) and 60 days under our guarantee (§ 7), with a full refund either way. If we can't place you in a circle within 90 days, you can also leave with a full refund (§ 6).

Your commitment. Your membership starts when your first payment goes through. If you pay monthly, the first 6 months are a commitment. If you pay yearly, the first 12 months are. It's what lets eight people plan their dinners together and count on each other to turn up. If you decide to leave in that time, your membership runs to the end of your commitment, monthly payments carry on until then, and the months left aren't refunded. The exceptions are the ways out above and good cause (below).

Good cause. Life happens. If something serious means you can't continue, such as illness or a family emergency, tell us what's going on and we'll work it out with you. Either of us can end the membership for good cause (aus wichtigem Grund). If we don't think the reason amounts to good cause, we'll explain why, and your request counts as an ordinary cancellation.

After your first year, if you pay yearly. Your membership renews for another 12 months at your yearly price. We email you a few weeks before, so you can carry on (there's nothing to do), switch to monthly, or cancel before the renewal date and pay nothing more. In a renewed year you can cancel with one month's notice and we refund the whole months left. For example: renewed on 14 November 2027, cancelled on 2 February 2028, ends on 2 March 2028, 8 of 12 months refunded, so two thirds of your yearly price.

After your first 6 months, if you pay monthly. It carries on month to month. Cancel any time and it ends at the end of the month you've paid for.

How to cancel. Use “Verträge hier kündigen” at the foot of any page, or “Cancel contract here” on your Membership page. You sign in first. You can also email bolu@theanalogcircle.com. No particular wording is needed. You get a receipt straight away, and we confirm once we've checked it. We may ask what didn't work for you, but you never have to explain.

Once your membership starts, we find your circle. We match on shared interests, where you live and the balance of the group, which is why we can't promise a particular person, neighbourhood or dinner date. We'll keep you posted while we do it.

Within 90 days. We place you in a circle within 90 days of your membership starting, and usually much sooner. If we haven't, you can leave and we refund everything you've paid.

Re-match. If your circle isn't the right fit and you'd like to stay in the community, you get one free re-match to another circle. A re-match depends on seats being available, and it doesn't extend your membership or change what you pay.

On top of your statutory rights, including the right of withdrawal in § 9, we offer this guarantee.

The 60-day guarantee. Come to at least 2 experiences in your first 60 days. Inner Circle dinners, community experiences and 1:1 adventures all count. If the circle isn't for you, tell us within 60 days of joining. An email to hello@theanalogcircle.com is enough, and you don't need to give a reason. We refund everything you've paid and your membership ends. No hard feelings.

If we don't offer you two experiences you can come to in your first 60 days, your 60 days start from the first one we offer you.

The guarantee is once per person, so it doesn't apply again if you rejoin later.

Apart from these terms and your rights by law, fees aren't refundable. Missing a dinner, moving within your city or a busy patch at work doesn't, on its own, mean a refund.

We hope it never comes to this. We may end a membership if our values or guidelines are seriously or repeatedly not respected, or if someone's safety is at risk. If we do, we refund any time you've paid for and not used.

Circles work because people can count on each other. We ask every member to show up reliably, let the group know in good time when they can't make it, treat others with respect, and keep what's shared in the members app and group chats confidential and kind.

If someone's behaviour seriously harms other members or the community, we may remove them from a chat or circle, or end their membership as set out in § 7a.

Dinners move around the circle, so each member hosts about once a year. We give you the prompt for the evening, and your circle helps make it work.

When you host, please keep your home reasonably safe and ask your guests about allergies and dietary needs beforehand.

You host as a member, in your own name, not on behalf of The Analog Circle.

If you are a consumer (Verbraucher) within the meaning of § 13 BGB, you have a statutory right of withdrawal for distance contracts as set out below. The official instruction (Widerrufsbelehrung) and model form follow in German.

In short: you can withdraw within 14 days of joining without giving a reason. No attendance is needed. To withdraw, use Vertrag widerrufen in the footer of every page, or email hello@theanalogcircle.com.

If you withdraw within the 14 days, we refund everything you've paid.

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and where mandatory product liability or other mandatory law so requires.

For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of essential contractual duties (Kardinalpflichten), and then limited to foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. We are not liable for the conduct of other members, hosts, or third-party venues, except where we ourselves are at fault under the rules above.

Gatherings take place in members' homes and public places. Please follow the host's house rules and the venue's rules.

Member-hosted Inner Circle dinners. Inner Circle dinners are arranged and hosted by members in their own homes. The host decides the premises, the catering and the arrangements, and is responsible for the safety of their premises and for compliance with any applicable house rules or tenancy obligations. The Analog Circle matches members and coordinates scheduling; it does not organise, run, staff or supervise these gatherings and is not the organiser (Veranstalter) of them.

Events organised by The Analog Circle. Events we announce as ours are organised by The Analog Circle. For these we act as organiser and our liability is governed by § 10 above. Please follow the instructions of our team and the rules of the venue.

We may update these terms. If we'd like a change to apply to your ongoing membership, we'll email you the new version and what changes at least six weeks before it takes effect. If you don't object before that date, you agree to the change and it applies from then on. We'll remind you of this in that email.

If you object, your membership carries on under the terms you have. You can also cancel free of charge, with effect from the date the change would take effect.

This doesn't apply to your price, your plan, the guarantee you joined with or what your membership includes. Changing any of those always needs your express agreement.

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer habitually resident in the EU/EEA, you also keep the protection of mandatory provisions of your country of residence.

If something goes wrong, please talk to us first at hello@theanalogcircle.com. We're not obliged to take part in proceedings before a consumer arbitration board and don't do so.
